The Legend In 1971 the Beradi brothers took over the Farm Club and created one of the most famous clubs in the Alps. Winter 2010 saw the 40th Year of the Legendary Farm Club in Verbier! They say from small acorns great oaks grow and when Italian brothers, Giuseppi & Serafino Berardi left their six brothers and sisters, their parents and their rural Italian village, they put down roots in the emerging ski resort of Verbier, working in hotels with extra nightshifts in the smallest of Verbier’s three ‘dancing’ clubs. At the beginning, it was just the two of them serving the drinks, working the bar, playing the records. Money was tight, and the club had little in the way of amenities; on the rare occasion when someone ordered a bottle of champagne, Giuseppe went outside and filled the ice bucket with snow. Little did they know that they were about to help turn a venue into a legend, where European royalty, international celebrities and stars like Diana Ross and David Bowie would dance together with ski bums into the early hours. All the Brothers efforts paid off. In the early 80’s turnover doubled and tripled shortly thereafter. They could afford to employ more personnel, a fulltime doorman, DJ, waiters, and a whole load of extras to cope with the crowds that were now pouring into the Farm on a nightly basis. The brothers worked hard to consistently encourage a younger more sophisticated crowd, their easy going Latin temperament, warm welcome and superb levels of service ensuring a relaxed and fun atmosphere for both regulars and the youth who were pouring into Verbier each year in search of the perfect powder. Some clubs may thrive on change, but the Farm Club thrives on familiarity. Entering the farm at the beginning of each season is like opening up a treasure trove of memories. The tables, the wood, the tunes, and of course, Giuseppe and Serafino in their tuxedos, warmly welcoming you like a long-lost family member. It's an ultimate feel-good moment. The unchallenged reputation of Verbier’s cosmopolitan nightlife started with the Farm Club in 1971. Forty years on, the celebrations continue and for this special occasion we have created a photographic book to document forty years of the resort, the skiing, the parties and the brothers fruitful lives. Who could deny that Farm Club life begins at forty?
